Carrick Masters Swimming Club

Safeguarding & Welfare

At Carrick Masters Swimming Club we take our responsibilities very seriously, especially when it comes to the welfare of our members.

The club is committed to providing a caring, friendly and safe environment for all our members, so that when they participate in club activities, they do so in a relaxed and secure atmosphere.
To do this, the club has adopted Wavepower, Swim England’s safeguarding policy and procedures document.

Its aim is to ensure everyone is able to enjoy aquatic activity in a safe, positive and enjoyable environment in line with current legislation, regulations and guidance.

More information about Wavepower, including a downloadable copy, can be found here - Wavepower: Swim England;s safeguarding policy and procedures.
Club members can be assured that all club staff and volunteers will be trained and/or qualified for their role, safely recruited by the club, and where their role dictates (as stated in Wavepower) will have undergone the appropriate Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
Carrick Masters Swimming Club’s Welfare Officer will investigate any reported safeguarding incident and act in line with the procedures within Wavepower.

Any incidents of alleged poor practice, misconduct or abuse will always be taken seriously and responded to.

The responsibility to safeguard the members of our club lies with all of us and is not the sole responsibility of any one person. Therefore, if you have any concerns regarding the welfare of an individual or group of people within our club, or wish to ask a question relating to welfare, in the first instance, please contact our Welfare Officer using cmsc_welfare@outlook.com.

Our welfare officer and committee members will ensure that confidentiality is maintained during any investigation into a safeguarding concern.

If you would prefer to communicate with someone outside of the Carrick Masters Swimming Club, you can contact your County or Regional Welfare Officer, or a member of the Swim England National Safeguarding Team; details here Swim England Safeguarding Contacts. Guidance regarding the contact of external agencies can also be found on this page.
