John Griffin, a retired Police Officer from Newquay has set himself a challenging mission for 2024 to raise £1,00,000 for @Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust by swimming one million metres in 12 months.
After all his years of work within the emergency services, including being part of the NHS planning team during the pandemic, John is only too aware of how critical these services are to those people in their hour of need. All money raised will go towards a much needed second air ambulance. #Heli2
One of John’s difficulties during this challenge is to keep count of the lengths and maintain a consistent pace. When the pace clock at Newquay broke a huge thanks and gratitude must be given to @SportClox for their swift repair to keep John on target. If one clock breaking wasn’t bad enough, the clock at Truro Leisure Centre also stopped working, but yet again Steven at SportClox was there to provide a second clock. As well as benefitting John, this clock is much needed for the Swimming Club.
Now halfway through his challenge, John is on course to complete his one million metres and has even joked about doing some extra lengths!
