This year the meet was bigger than ever spread over 2 days rather than just 1, attracting swimmers to race in more events than usual as they would get a bit more rest.
Really great to have a group of swimmers together, Leyton swimming his first masters competition and first race after a few years break, making a return with good form, with more still to come I’m sure.

Racing alongside his Dad Jeremy, who was trying out racing jammers for the first time, and set some impressive times in the 100 fly and 50 free.
Graeme, a regular top performer had some great swims, doing some 100s as well as his usual 50m events. He had a visit from his two sons who came to see him race for the first time in years.
Frazer had a strong meet and PB’d in all 3 of his events, including an all time best in the 50 breast he last swam over 20 years ago. He also added to the spectators with his parents and brother who is slowly being tempted into a return to competitive swimming. He noted how relaxed the atmosphere was compared to his previous experiences, despite multiple British Records being set it remains very inclusive.
Sarah made a rookie error forgetting to sign in for 200 IM before warm up but still got a race, just a little underprepared and in a training suit, following a conversation about how much effect they do or don’t make on your times during the lunch break.
Dan wasn’t racing this weekend but gave up his time to be an official, and managed to eat an impressive amount of food, meeting with Mum Sarah for a meal Saturday night, then returning to join his Navy team mates for a second meal.
I can’t pick a stand out swim but the team atmosphere and family support around our Carrick swimmers was the highlight of the meet for me.
